Ansbacher Law founder Barry B. Ansbacher was honored to present at the Ralph E. Boyer Institute on Condominium and Cluster Development on September 24, 2026, addressing complex issues surrounding Florida’s Marketable Record Title Act (MRTA) and its impact on community associations.

Barry presented “MRTA Issues Plaguing Associations – Extinguished Covenants, Revitalization & Unanswered Issues” alongside Jennifer J. Bloodworth, Esq., of First American Title Insurance Company.

The presentation examined Florida’s Marketable Record Title Act, Chapter 712, Florida Statutes, including how MRTA operates to extinguish certain interests, covenants, restrictions, and claims that predate a root of title. Barry and Ms. Bloodworth also explored statutory exceptions to MRTA and the challenges associations can face when covenants and restrictions are affected by marketability issues.

The session also addressed revitalization and unresolved questions surrounding the application of MRTA to community associations and title insurance implications, providing practitioners with insight into an increasingly important area of real property law.

Barry’s participation in the Ralph E. Boyer Institute reflects Ansbacher Law’s continued commitment to educating attorneys and industry professionals on developments affecting Florida’s community associations, real estate, and property law.
